Eye Injuries

Remember To Send for Help – Call an Ambulance

Note

If there is an object imbedded in the eye Do Not Try to Remove It.

Signs and Symptoms

Pain and irritation
Swelling around the eye
Eye watering
Blood in the white of the eye

Treatment

Chemical Burns

DRSABCD
Keep eye open to stop the chemical being trapped inside
Flush the eye with clean water for 20 minutes
Place a clean, light dressing over the eye
Seek medical help

Foreign Objects Embedded

DRSABCD
Cover the eye with a shield so you can leave the object in place and have no pressure on it. (The base of a paper cup or similar works well)
Bandage everything in place making sure there is NO PRESSURE on the eye
Seek professional medical care
