Low Blood Sugar Signs and Symptoms

• Cold and clammy skin
• Pale
• Poor balance
• Confusion and aggression
• Feeling faint
• Weak
• Confused

High Blood Sugar Signs and Symptoms

• Hot and dry skin
• Frequent urination
• Thirst
• Sweet, fruity smelling breath

Treatment

Unconscious Patient

• DRSABCD
• Give nil by mouth

Conscious Patient

Low Blood Sugar

• Give them a sweet, sugary drink every 15 minutes until they recover
• When the patient is recovered give them a sandwich to eat
• If the patient is not recovering call for emergency help

High Blood Sugar

• Seek medical assistance if needed
• Drink sugar free fluids
