Is it, really, worth it:

struggling against the odds,

putting off the awful day

for some unfathomable cause?

What doesn't kill you

makes you strong, but

what price strength?

And strength for what?

Years run their course,

one upon another;

pointless days of unfulfilled

subsistence, while life,

which never was a friend, 

laughs its mocking laugh

and hurries by.
