The Lone Pine
I'm a lone pine tree,
Among snow, water, weeds, and another tree.
Both pine and tree bare as can be,
Will have their beauty back come spring.
I'm a lone pine tree.
I get my water from the lake,
I get my food from the land,
And my shade from the sun.
With the white of snow,
With the rising sun,
With the water iced over,
My shadow is hiding unless you look closely.
My little tree friend,
My trail of weeds as well,
We keep each other company,
For the long winter haul.
Soon the snow and ice will be gone,
A memory to disappear,
A memory to remember,
For in another year,
It will all be back again.
