Sunset Silhouette

It is a warm summer sunset

And here we are at the beach.

I look out upon a vast waterway

My very first look at the Atlantic Ocean.

The silhouette you see is me,

The author of this book.

Never before had I had this chance

As when I moved to Florida.

This sunset silhouette

Became the first of many,

And I found myself beach bound

As often as time would allow.

The Florida sun,

Or Michigan colors,

It doesn’t matter which.

I’m at home either place.
